Although I have titled this post ‘Boy’s Toys’, I couldn’t resist this lovely die-cast model tractor myself with its cheery orange-red body and pale blue rubber tyres. It has obviously provided many happy hours of enjoyment and despite being a little bashed and missing the driver’s seat it is still very appealing. It measures 10 cm x 5.5 cm, is signed ‘England’ and probably dates from the 1940s/1960s. I’m not sure which tractor model it’s based on, perhaps an early ‘Ford’ or ‘Allis Chalmers’. Maybe someone can enlighten me?
i want it!
It reminds me of the tractors that dot the landscape on the west coast of Scotland, and their usually at least as bashed and missing the driver’s seat so I think it looks authentic!
It is very likeable!
It is similar to the rusty old tractors used by west coast crofters, which I think are mostly Massey Ferguson.
